A Stunning Sunset Elopement on Donner Summit

Matt and Brenda are two educators who traveled halfway around the world to get married in Lake Tahoe! This pair of dedicated teachers are both from the States and fell in love while teaching at an International school in Monterrey, Mexico. Currently teaching in South Korea, they originally planned a 150 guest destination wedding at the Lodge at Tahoe Donner, but, unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic had other plans.

Not wanting anyone to feel obligated to travel, the couple ultimately opted for an intimate Donner Summit elopement with just Brenda's mom and brother present, photographed by Charleton Churchill.

created a gorgeous bouquet and floral arrangements to accent the ceremony location overlooking Donner Lake.

Brenda's mom made her beautiful lace overlay gown - and custom masks for the bride and groom. Via a Zoom meeting, friends and family dressed for the occasion and were still able to be a part of the elopement remotely. And

was on hand to create a wedding film that will give everyone a chance to witness the magic of the day.

Blue Sky Events planned the wedding and elopement, ensuring that the intention and vision of the originally planned celebration remained intact. In fact, Matt and Brenda were able to keep all of their original wedding vendors (except the venue and band) and credit the kindness and professionalism of their vendors for making their day so perfect and remarkable. As a gesture of thanks, the couple brought each vendor a ramen set from South Korea, paired with "Covid Sucks" thank you boxes from Lake Tahoe Cakes.
