Our Favorite Tahoe Wedding Videographers
If we had to choose one thing that makes a wedding special, hiring a wedding videographer definitely comes to mind! There's nothing like reliving those emotional vows and seeing your grandmother rock it out on the dancefloor. But how do you find the right fit with so many videographers to choose from? We decided to make your life easier and asked Chair7 Films and Reel Eyes Media about their style and the most important things a couple should ask their potential videographer!

We’re a husband-and-wife team! We love filming weddings because we get to show up and capture one of the happiest days of people’s lives. It really doesn’t get much better than that; we’re constantly surrounded by joy and love! When it comes to filming and editing, we each bring something different to the table: Kyle loves capturing all the best cinematic shots at weddings, while I (Melissa) love the editing process and putting together a highlight film that is uniquely yours. We love to work together as a team and are constantly bouncing ideas off each other to capture each wedding in the best way possible.
What are the most important things a couple should look for or ask their potential videographer?
First, couples should make sure they have good chemistry with their video team. We recommend couples hop on a call with potential videographers to share what they’re looking for in a final product and ask about their filming style. Couples should also ask videographers how well they work with other vendors because we’re all teaming up to make sure your wedding day goes as smoothly as possible!
Favorite part of the wedding day to film.
Our favorite part of the wedding day to film is the dancing! By that time of the night, all the formalities are over, and it’s time to kick up the celebration a notch! We love to see families and friends cutting loose on the dance floor; these make for some of the best clips of the day (and some of the best memories)!
How does your process work regarding music, and what footage is used in the final video?
Music selection is a huge part of our editing process in that we search, sample, search, revisit and then search some more to find the right music that fits each couple’s wedding day. We typically license cinematic music from various platforms and never use the same song twice. Regarding how we select footage, we go with clips that really help encapsulate the vibe of the wedding. Our wedding edits are story-driven, so we typically use audio from the ceremony and toasts to help tell each couple’s story. We also try to include all the major moments from the wedding day in the highlight film. For example, we’ll sneak in clips from the first dances, walk down the aisle, first kiss etc.

Tagline for your business - describe who you are, your “why,” and your videography style.
I’m a storyteller. Before I started filming weddings, and even before picking up a camera as a child, I wrote stories. My imagination was untamed. My parents still have these tales archived and, although the memories from these times have faded from my memory, these documented works of imagination prove that storytelling, whether in the form of writing or filmmaking, have always been innate in my character. Telling other people’s stories through the medium of filmmaking is something I feel I’m supposed to be doing. It’s a liberating feeling!
What are the most important things a couple should look for or ask their potential videographer?
First, ask how they work on the day of the wedding. Do you like a more candid documentary style, cinematographer (like how we film) or do you like a videographer who directs more? Another great question to ask is if they outsource any of their editing. My company prides itself on not outsourcing the editing work to keep a consistent look throughout our films.
Favorite part of the wedding day to film.
I always enjoy filming a couple’s portraits near sunset. These are the money shots that we like to use in our highlight videos, plus it gives us time to take the bride and groom away from the hustle and bustle of the day if even for a few minutes, to give them a chance to enjoy being in the moment - just the two of them. Speeches are fun too because you never know what people will say.
How does your process work regarding music, and what footage is used in the final video?
The music used for the highlight video is chosen by me to stay in accordance with copyright laws. The longer edits the clients can choose. As far as the footage used… that’s a big undertaking. In a nutshell, I go through every piece of footage and pick out the “gold nuggets.” From there, it’s even more filtering until what I’m left with are just the clips I want to use. I find it impossible to edit a wedding to the best of my ability without going through every clip!
