From the Bride: How we metPatrick and I met while completing our Bachelor degrees at CSU, Sacramento. We bonded over our love of travel and the outdoors. When Patrick proposed we were nearing the end of a week-long ski trip in Whistler. On our way to Vancouver we took a pit stop at Squamish, B.C. to watch people climb the steep mountain wall. We had just bought a tripod and new camera for the trip and decided to take some pictures. While we were taking pictures, Patrick popped the question.

Why Tahoe? When planning our wedding we knew right away that we wanted it to take place outside. Both Patrick and I were immediately drawn to Lake Tahoe. During our relationship, Tahoe has been one of our favorite and most frequent places to visit. It is where he asked me to be his girlfriend and it only made sense that we exchange our vows in the same area. We chose Zephyr Cove Resort because we loved the idea of having the ceremony by the water and then celebrating with friends and family within the trees. We wanted our wedding to incorporate the beauty of the surroundings with a little bit of elegance.

My Favorite Moments:Both Patrick and I wanted to incorporate moments that we could privately share together. Knowing this, our photographer suggested Cave Rock as a first look location. After I did a quick Google search I knew the 0.8-mile hike would be worth it. It was there that Patrick and I decided that we would also like to share our own written vows to each other. We stood, hand-in-hand, looking over the lake, without a person in sight and said our vows to one another. For the first dance, we wanted to feel as if we were the only ones there. Our amazing wedding planners helped create our vision of a personal dance floor. We had our first dance on the sandy shore of the lake, surrounded by lanterns with candles. Our guests stayed back a distance but were still able to see us. During the middle of our dance, the clouds opened up and let the sunset shine through. This was by far my favorite moment of the wedding. We were able to talk about how we were feeling, laugh together, and enjoy a semi-private moment away from the celebration.
